Terms and conditions

The terms for static codes without an account and for the free account and the paid plans at QR Code World.

As of 3 October 2026

1. Scope and provider

These General Terms and Conditions (terms) apply to the use of QR Code World at qr-code-world.com. QR Code World is a service of bequ codes, a brand of bequ GmbH, Pestalozzistraße 25, 22305 Hamburg, Germany, represented by its managing director Leonard Saltzwedel, registered with the commercial register of Amtsgericht Hamburg under HRB 191508, phone +49 163 9193021, email service@bequ.io (“we”).

These terms apply to consumers and businesses alike. Deviating terms of users do not apply, even if we do not expressly object to them.

The contract language is German. This English version of the terms is for information only; the German version is binding.

2. QR codes without an account

Without an account you design static QR codes free of charge, up to 3 codes per browser. With a static code the content (for example a link, a text, a contact or Wi-Fi access) sits directly in the code. We do not store the target or the logo; the target cannot be changed later. A downloaded static code works independently of QR Code World.

Each creation without an account is a free one-off service without a term. You may use the code images freely for private and commercial purposes. “QR Code” is a registered trademark of DENSO WAVE INCORPORATED.

3. The free account

You create an account with your email address and a password or with your Google account. The contract for the free account is concluded when you click “Create account” or “Sign up with Google” and we create your account; with email and password you can use it as soon as you have confirmed your address via the link in our email. We do not store the contract text separately; you can find these terms on this page at any time and save or print them.

You may create an account if you are of age or your parents agree. Keep your password secret and tell us if someone uses your account without permission.

In the free account you create up to 3 dynamic codes. A dynamic code leads via a short link under qr.bequ.io to the target you set and can change at any time (the target of a redirect up to 20 times per hour): a link, a page with text or an image, or a contact (vCard). This includes the design, print files and scan statistics. If you delete a code, its slot becomes free again after 30 days. We never reassign short codes, so a printed code never leads to someone else’s target.

Dynamic codes redirect as long as your account and the code exist and the code is not blocked under section 6.

3a. Running time of dynamic codes in the free account

Dynamic codes you create in the free account from 4 October 2026 are active for 7 days from creation. After that, scanning the code shows a neutral page “This code is paused”; the short code and its content are kept and nothing is deleted. Two days before the end we remind you by email, and the notice also appears in your account. With a paid plan the same code is active again immediately.

Not affected are codes created before 4 October 2026, codes on products from bequ.store, codes from bequ.codes and codes we created for you or took over from a previous provider.

3b. Paid plans

(1) In addition to the free account we offer the paid plans Plus and Business. Plus includes up to 50 and Business up to 500 codes in your account, each with your own short link (paragraph 7) and without the running time under section 3a. All other features are the same as in the free account. Prices: Plus €4.90 per month or €49 per year (equivalent to €4.08 per month), Business €19 per month or €190 per year (equivalent to €15.83 per month). All prices are final prices. For consumers in Germany and the EU and for businesses in Germany they include statutory VAT (currently 19%). Businesses with a valid VAT number from another EU country and customers outside the EU pay the same amount without German VAT; for businesses from the EU the reverse charge procedure applies. The selection “Country of your billing address” in the order shows from which countries you can take out a paid plan; this is always possible from all EU countries.

(2) Conclusion of the contract: The presentation of the plans is not yet an offer. In your account you choose a plan and the term under “Plan”, see all details of the contract and submit a binding offer by clicking “Order with obligation to pay”. You then pay via our payment service provider Stripe. With the successful payment we accept your offer and confirm the contract with its content, these terms and the cancellation policy by email. If you cancel the payment or it fails, no contract is concluded. The contract language is German.

(3) Payment: You pay in advance, monthly for the monthly plan and yearly for the annual plan, via Stripe with the payment methods shown there. Stripe issues the invoice on our behalf; you find it in your account under “Plan”. If a payment fails, Stripe tries again over the following days; your plan remains valid until then. If all attempts fail, the plan ends.

(4) Term and cancellation of the monthly plan: The monthly plan runs for one month and renews by one further month at a time. You can cancel at any time with effect from the end of the current month.

(5) Term and cancellation of the annual plan: The first term is twelve months. You can cancel at any time with effect from the end of this first term. If you do not cancel, the contract then continues for an indefinite period and is billed twelve months in advance each time. After the first term you can cancel at any time with one month's notice, at the latest with effect from the end of the year already paid; we refund the part of the payment attributable to the time after the end of the contract pro rata to the day to your original payment method. We remind you by email 30 and 7 days before each renewal.

(6) How to cancel: in your account under “Plan” › “Cancel plan” or without signing in via the button “Cancel contracts here” at the bottom of every page of qr-code-world.com. There you can choose the date: at the next possible date or on a date of your choice. We confirm the cancellation immediately by email with its content, the date and time of receipt and the date on which the contract ends. The right to terminate for good cause remains unaffected. You change between Plus and Business and between monthly and yearly payment in Stripe's customer portal, which you reach under “Plan” › “Manage plan”; the change is settled pro rata.

(7) Your own short link: With Plus and Business you can choose the end of the short link yourself when creating a code (qr.bequ.io/yourname, 3 to 13 characters from a to z, 0 to 9 and hyphen). Every short link exists only once; a short link that is taken, deleted or currently reserved cannot be chosen. Paths of our platform, our own brands, third-party brands and offensive or unlawful terms cannot be chosen either. The short link cannot be changed after creation. If a short link infringes the rights of third parties, section 6 applies.

(8) End of a paid plan: When a paid plan ends, nothing is deleted. All codes keep redirecting to their last target, including those with your own short link. Your account then has the limits of the free account: you create new codes only while fewer than three codes are in it, and section 3a may apply to new codes. The three oldest codes remain editable; you can edit the others again as soon as you have a paid plan.

(9) If you delete your account, a running paid plan ends immediately. For an annual plan after the first term we refund the unused part of the last annual payment pro rata; within the first term on request to service@bequ.io.

(10) Warranty: The statutory warranty rights for digital services apply to your plan (Sections 327 et seq. of the German Civil Code).

(11) Withdrawal: The statutory right of withdrawal applies to paid plans (section 9).

4. Availability and changes

We operate QR Code World with due care. Maintenance, security measures or disruptions beyond our control may temporarily restrict its use; there is no claim to uninterrupted availability of the free service. Section 7 governs liability.

We may change the free service if there is a valid reason, such as protection against abuse, technical development, costs or a change in the law. We announce changes that affect existing codes at least six weeks in advance by email; you may then delete your account at any time. A later time limit for dynamic codes in the free account only applies to codes created after it is introduced.

5. Your content and obligations

You are responsible for the targets, texts, images and contact details you store. You may only use content you are entitled to use and store other people’s data only with their consent or another legal basis. In particular, the following is not allowed:

  • illegal content and targets, including content that infringes the rights of others (for example copyright, trademark or personality rights)
  • malware, phishing and fraud, as well as targets that disguise such pages
  • content harmful to minors, inciting hatred or glorifying violence
  • mass automated creation of codes or accounts and circumventing the limits in sections 2 and 3

5a. Rights of use and indemnity

So that we can store your content and show it to everyone who scans your code, you grant us a simple, free right to use it for this purpose. It ends when you delete the content or your account.

If third parties raise justified claims against us because of your content, you indemnify us insofar as you are responsible for the infringement; this includes the reasonable costs of legal defence.

6. Checks, blocking and notices

To make sure no code leads to malware or fraudulent pages, we check targets automatically with Google’s Web Risk service: before saving and once a day. If a target is listed, we do not save it or stop redirecting the code until you enter a new target; people who scan it then see a neutral page. In the free account we only save a new target if the check reports it as safe; if the check is not possible right now, please try again after a few minutes.

If we learn that content is illegal or violates section 5, we block the code or content concerned. In the event of serious or repeated violations we may block or terminate your account. We inform you of every block and the reasons for it, unless the law prohibits this. You can object at service@bequ.io; a person then reviews the decision again. You remain free to go to court.

Anyone can report illegal content and abuse behind a code to service@bequ.io, via “Report abuse” or via the contact form. Please state the address of the code (for example qr.bequ.io/abc123), why the content is illegal, your name and email address, and that your information is accurate to the best of your knowledge. We confirm receipt and tell you our decision.

Single point of contact for authorities and for users under Articles 11 and 12 of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 (Digital Services Act): service@bequ.io, in German or English.

7. Liability

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, where we have given a guarantee and under the German Product Liability Act.

If we breach an essential contractual obligation through slight negligence, we are only liable for the foreseeable damage typical for the contract. Essential contractual obligations are those whose fulfilment makes the proper performance of the contract possible in the first place and on whose fulfilment you may regularly rely. Otherwise we are not liable for slight negligence.

Please keep downloaded print files yourself.

8. Term, termination and deletion

The free account runs for an indefinite period. You can end it at any time without notice by deleting it under “Account” or by writing to us. We can terminate the free account with three months’ notice by email; for good cause, for example serious violations of section 5, also without notice.

When the account ends, its dynamic codes stop redirecting. We delete your account data immediately and the content of the codes 30 days later; the short codes remain blocked. Static codes keep working.

9. Right of withdrawal

If you are a consumer, you have the following right of withdrawal for the contract for the free account and for contracts for paid plans.

Cancellation policy

Right of withdrawal: You have the right to withdraw from this contract within fourteen days without giving any reason. The withdrawal period is fourteen days from the day the contract was concluded.

To exercise your right of withdrawal, you must inform us (bequ GmbH, Pestalozzistraße 25, 22305 Hamburg, Germany, phone: +49 163 9193021, email: service@bequ.io) of your decision to withdraw from this contract by an unequivocal statement (for example a letter sent by post or an email). You may use the model withdrawal form below, but it is not obligatory.

You can also exercise your right of withdrawal online using the “Withdraw from contract” button at the bottom of every page of qr-code-world.com. If you use this online function, we will send you an acknowledgement of receipt on a durable medium (for example by email) without delay, with information on the content of the withdrawal statement and the date and time it was received.

To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.

Effects of withdrawal: If you withdraw from this contract, we shall reimburse to you all payments received from you without undue delay and in any event not later than fourteen days from the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract. We will carry out such reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement. If you requested to begin the performance of services during the withdrawal period, you shall pay us an amount which is in proportion to what has been provided until you have communicated us your withdrawal from this contract, in comparison with the full coverage of the contract. For the free account we end your account as described in section 8; you have not made any payments for it.

Model withdrawal form (Complete and return this form only if you wish to withdraw from the contract.): To bequ GmbH, Pestalozzistraße 25, 22305 Hamburg, Germany, email: service@bequ.io: I/We (*) hereby give notice that I/We (*) withdraw from my/our (*) contract for the provision of the following service: free account or paid plan (Plus or Business) at QR Code World. Ordered on (*) / received on (*). Name of consumer(s). Email address of the account. Address of consumer(s). Signature of consumer(s) (only if this form is notified on paper). Date. (*) Delete as appropriate.

10. Dispute resolution

We are neither willing nor obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

11. Applicable law and place of jurisdiction

The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies. If you are a consumer, this choice of law only applies insofar as it does not deprive you of the protection afforded to you by the mandatory provisions of the law of the country in which you have your habitual residence.

If you are a merchant, a legal entity under public law or a special fund under public law, Hamburg is the exclusive place of jurisdiction. Should a provision of these terms be invalid, the remaining provisions remain in force; the statutory provision takes the place of the invalid one.
