Google review QR code.

Happy customers rarely write a review on their own. A QR code at the till, on the table or on the receipt takes them to your review form with one scan. All you need is the review link from your Google profile.

A frame with a short text says what the code does. The code itself stays unchanged and easy to scan.

Error correction

Higher means sturdier against scratches and logos, but denser. “Automatic” fits almost always.

Size per level: L 29 × 29 · M 33 × 33 · Q 37 × 37 · H 41 × 41

Smallest print width for 20 cm distance: L 2.5 cm · M 3 cm · Q 3 cm · H 3.5 cm

Level H needs a finer grid here (41 × 41 instead of 29 × 29). Print the code a little larger then. The shorter the content, the coarser the grid.

Without JavaScript you download your code directly as PNG, SVG or PDF.

Should the target stay changeable?

With a free account you get 3 more codes, dynamic ones, each active for 7 days from creation: change the target later, with statistics.

How to get your code

Google gives you the link, you design the code here.

  1. 1

    Open your profile

On a computer, go to business.google.com and sign in with the account that manages your Business Profile.

  2. 2

    Copy the link

Select “Read reviews”, then “Get more reviews” and the share icon. “Copy” puts the link on your clipboard.

  3. 3

    Design the code

Paste the link above and choose colours, your logo and a frame such as “Rate us”. Then select “Create QR code” and download it.

  4. 4

    Test and place it

Scan the code: the phone opens the page for writing a review. Then put it at the till, on the table or on the receipt.

Size and print

Google also offers a plain QR code to save in the same window. Here your code gets your logo, colours, a frame and exactly the print size you need.

  • Short link, small code

A link of up to 42 characters makes 29 × 29 modules at error correction M, the usual level. Modules are the small dots that make up the code. On a table, scanned from 20 cm, 2.5 cm is enough; on a wall for a 1 m distance, 12.5 cm.

  • With a logo

With a logo the error correction rises to H, the highest level, and the code gets 37 × 37 modules. Plan for 3 cm at a 20 cm distance.

  • Contrast

A dark code on a light background reads most reliably. The check below the preview blocks colours under 2.5 : 1 contrast and suggests stronger ones under 4 : 1.

Common mistakes

  • Rewards for reviews

Google prohibits discounts, vouchers or free services in exchange for a review. Google removes such reviews.

  • Only asking happy customers

Google does not allow selectively asking for positive reviews. Place the code where every customer can see it.

  • A search link instead of the form

A link from Google Search or Maps only shows your profile. Use the link from “Get more reviews”, which opens the form directly.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I find the link for Google reviews?

On a computer, in your Business Profile: “Read reviews”, then “Get more reviews” and the share icon. “Copy” puts the link on your clipboard.

Can I offer a discount for a review?

No. Google prohibits incentives such as discounts, vouchers or free services for reviews and removes such reviews.

Do I need an account for the code?

No. The review link usually stays the same, so a static code is enough. It is free and has no time limit.

Can I see how often the code was scanned?

With a dynamic code, yes: the statistics in your account show scans by day, country and device. In the free account every code is active for 7 days from creation, then paused until you choose a paid plan. See pricing
