Smallest print width for 20 cm distance: L 2.5 cm · M 3 cm · Q 3 cm · H 3 cm

Level Q is the same size as M here and copes with more dirt and scratches (about 25 instead of 15 %).

Level H needs a finer grid here (37 × 37 instead of 29 × 29). Print the code a little larger then. The shorter the content, the coarser the grid.

Questions about the generator

Is the QR code generator free?

Yes. Without an account you create up to 3 static codes and download them as PNG, SVG or PDF; they have no time limit. The account is free as well: there you also create up to 3 dynamic codes, each active for 7 days from creation.

Can I design the code without an account?

Yes, with everything the account offers: 27 patterns, 52 corner shapes, your own colours, gradient, colours for the corners, background, margin, error correction, your logo and a frame with text. The check below the preview shows whether the code scans well.

Which QR codes can I create without an account?

A link, a text, your contact details as a business card (vCard) and access to your Wi-Fi. For an image you need a free account, because it has to be stored.

What size do I get my code in?

As a PNG from 256 to 4,096 pixels at 300 dpi, as a PDF in CMYK from 1 to 200 cm wide and as an SVG at any size. Once created, the page shows you how large you should at least print your code for the planned scanning distance.

How long does a static QR code work?

As long as its target is online. The target sits right in the code, so it no longer needs us once downloaded.

How long is a dynamic code active?

In the free account for 7 days from creation. After that it is paused: whoever scans it sees “This code is paused”. Its short code, content and design stay, nothing is deleted. You get an email two days before. With a paid plan the same code works again right away.

Can I change the target later?

Not with a static code. If you need a changeable target, create the code as a dynamic code with a free account; there it is active for 7 days from creation.

Do you store what I create codes for?

No. Content and logo only end up in the image you download, including contact details and Wi-Fi passwords. Your browser does the counting: a cookie keeps check values of your codes, from which no content can be worked out. To prevent misuse, the server also keeps a shortened IP address until midnight.
