Guide
Everything in detail: which code suits you, how to design and download it, what your account can do and how we protect your data. At the very bottom you will find answers to frequently asked questions.
A static QR code contains the target itself. It works without an account and without a time limit, but you cannot change it once it is printed. A dynamic code leads through a short link: you change the target in your account at any time and see how often it was scanned. In the free account it is active for 7 days from creation.
More codes and your own short link: Plus with 50 codes, Business with 500.See pricing
In your account you set up your code in three steps. Then you print it once and only ever change the target.
A link, a page with text or an image, or your contact details: you decide what the code shows.
Patterns, corners, colours, gradient, your logo and a frame with text, with a live preview and a scannability check.
Under “My codes” you change the target at any time. The printed code stays the same.
Without an account it is even quicker: under “Create QR code” you enter your target, pick the look and download the finished code. That is a static code. If you want to change the target later, create it in a free account.
Everything that belongs to your code lives in your account.
28 patterns, 52 corner shapes, your own colours or a gradient, your logo in the middle and six frames with text. All of it without an account too.
Redirect to a website, a page with text or an image, or a business card to save. Switchable later on.
Scans per day, countries, devices and browsers. We only store shortened IP addresses.
SVG and PNG for screens and the web, PDF in CMYK for print.
What each feature does, where to find it and what to keep in mind.
Without an account you create static codes for four kinds of content: a link, a text, your contact details or access to your Wi-Fi. The content sits right in the code. It works without us and never expires, but you cannot change it once it is printed.
In a free account your codes become dynamic. There are three types: a redirect to any website, a page of your own with text and an image, or a business card that offers “Save contact” when scanned. You can switch the type later, and the printed code stays the same.
A dynamic code only contains a short link on qr.bequ.io. Whoever scans it is taken through this link to your current target. Change the target under “My codes” and every code you have already printed leads there right away: flyers, posters and packaging stay as they are.
Because the code only carries the short link, it has few, large dots. That makes it easy to read on fabric, small labels and from further away.
Choose from 28 patterns for the dots and 52 shapes for the three corners, separately for frame and centre. Add your own colours or a gradient, a transparent background, your logo in the middle and 6 frames with your own text above or below the code. All of it without an account too.
You see every change in the preview right away. Below it, the generator checks that the code stays easy to read: too little contrast between code and background or a logo that is too large is flagged before you print. With a logo it picks the highest error correction by itself, so the phone can fill in the covered parts.
In your account you save a design you like as a template of your own and reuse it for the next code. That way all your company's codes look the same. A free account holds 1 template, Plus 10 and Business 50.
We count every scan of a dynamic code. You see scans per day, countries, devices, browsers and operating systems, and the latest scans. That tells you which flyer works and where your codes get scanned.
We only store shortened IP addresses. We never learn names, phone numbers or other details of the people who scan.
PNG from 256 to 4,096 pixels at 300 dpi for screens and the web, SVG as a vector for any size, and a PDF in CMYK for the print shop, 1 to 200 cm wide. Black in the PDF is pure black, so it prints cleanly without a colour fringe. With or without an account.
How large your code needs to be depends on the distance it is scanned from. The generator suggests suitable sizes; more in the guide to QR code size.
Every dynamic code leads through a short link on qr.bequ.io. In a free account it gets a random ending. With Plus and Business you choose the ending yourself, for example qr.bequ.io/yourname, 3 to 13 characters long.
In a free account you create up to 3 codes, each with every feature. If you delete a code, its place is free again 30 days later.
In a free account every dynamic code is active for 7 days from creation. After that it is paused until you choose a plan; the short link and content remain, nothing is deleted. You get an email two days before. With Plus and Business your codes run without this limit.
We check every new target, and all targets once a day, against Google's Web Risk service for malware and scam sites. That way we spot known dangerous targets, and the address qr.bequ.io stays trustworthy for every printed code.
Without an account we do not store the content of your codes: target, contact details and Wi-Fi password only live in the image you download. Our server is in a data centre in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
Design, code types, statistics and downloads are included in every plan. Plus and Business give you more codes, your own short link and more templates. When a plan ends, all codes keep redirecting to their last target.
The most common codes each have their own guide with sizes for print.
Logo, size and print: what keeps a QR code easy to scan.
Good to know before your first code.
A static code contains the target directly and cannot be changed after printing. A dynamic code leads through a short link whose target you change in your account at any time. You also see how often it was scanned.
Yes. Under “Create QR code” you make up to 3 static codes for a link, a text, your contact details or your Wi-Fi, with every pattern, colour, gradient, logo and frame, and download them as PNG, SVG or PDF. For dynamic codes you create a free account.
With a dynamic code, yes: you change the target under “My codes”, and the printed code stays the same. A static code always leads to the target it contains.
PNG from 256 to 4,096 pixels at 300 dpi, SVG for any size and a PDF in CMYK for print, 1 to 200 cm wide. With or without an account.
Up to 3 codes, each with every feature: change the target, statistics, your own design and print files. Each one is active for 7 days from creation and then paused until you choose a paid plan; its short code and details stay. If you delete a code, its slot is free again 30 days later. More codes are available with Plus (50) and Business (500).
In the free account for 7 days from creation. After that it is paused: whoever scans it sees “This code is paused”. Its short code, content and design stay, nothing is deleted. You get an email two days before. With a paid plan the same code works again right away.
Plus gives you 50 codes, Business 500. With both you choose your own short link, such as qr.bequ.io/yourname, and your codes run without a 7-day limit. Plus costs €4.90 per month or €49 per year, which is €4.08 per month. Business costs €19 per month or €190 per year, which is €15.83 per month. All prices incl. 19% VAT. See pricing
No. Content and logo only end up in the image you download, including contact details and Wi-Fi passwords. Your browser does the counting: a cookie keeps check values of your codes, from which no content can be worked out. To prevent misuse, the server also keeps a shortened IP address until midnight.
Yes, with bequ.store (opens in a new tab): T‑shirts, hoodies and stickers, printed with a QR code whose target you change at any time. It runs on bequ codes, just like the codes here.
Enter the target, pick the look, download. With an account the target stays changeable.
